Instructions
1. Use pipe cleaner or remove the hair and soap buildup from the bathroom drains before proceeding. This is to get as much of the buildup from the tub down to the drum trap so you get it as much of the guck out at once.
2. Gather and put on old clothes, rubber gloves, shoes that are disposable or can be washed and a clip to plug your nose.
3. Find the clean out for the drum trap by looking under the floor in the bathroom near the tub, or very near it. If there has been remodeling, say a prayer and hope that the plumber left an access to the clean out.
4. Place a bucket under the cap so that the clog and any other lovely sewage that may be backed up in there can empty into. Hence the nose clip.
5. Pop the cap off the drum trap clean-out and let the clog flow out. This step may be difficult if no one has removed the drum trap cap for a long time. They tend to stick or corrode with all that bath water and other lovely waste passing through it. You may need a wrench and possibly a hammer. Use your finger to dig out the trap. As you muck through the guck, remember that the better you clean it out this time, the longer it will be before you have to do this again.
6. Shop-Vac that gunk out of there. This is least nasty way to get the drum trap cleaned out. Be sure to clean out the Shop-Vac after disposing of the garbage that comes out of the drain.
