Makeover Bedroom Games For Kids

Kids, especially little girls, love games that involve dressing up or reinventing the interior of a room. Using creative mediums such as paper and cardboard, help your little girl create a bedroom makeover game for hours of fun while providing her with a great creative outlet.

With Paper and Pencil

Sit with your child and help her design the interior of a room, including things like windows and doors. Next, help her draw pictures of furniture that might go in the room, like chairs, shelves, books, decorations, pictures and a bed. Have her color in the pictures of the furniture. She can color the walls of the bedroom or cut out different color wall paper or wrapping paper samples that would fit on the walls. Let her have fun arranging and re-arranging her room.

3-D Design

Help your daughter make a 3-D room out of a cardboard box. This can be accomplished by cutting out one or two sides from a box. Make small pictures with cardboard, use wall paper and rug samples for the walls and floors and use doll furniture. You can also create your own furniture by painting things like macaroni and cheese boxes different colors or gluing two of them together to create a couch. You can also cover macaroni and cheese boxes with fabric to make mini beds.

Online

Several websites have games designed on flash so that young girls can easily and quickly log on and re-arrange pre-designed rooms to their own liking. These websites provide several different versions featuring several different colors and themes, letting your child pick the perfect one for her. While most of these games are not timed, letting your daughter place and replace the furniture in the room, some of the games offer a challenge component in which she must earn "money" by playing a game and then use the "money" to decorate her room. Each online game offers a different theme, such as colors or "princess rooms." Most of these games are made in Japan and some online games heavily feature Japanese-influenced furniture, which can be a springboard for discussion about other cultures.
