Makeup Vanity For A Bedroom

A makeup vanity is a comfortable, organized space where you can get ready for the day or an evening out.

Far too many women apply their makeup in a cramped bathroom or, even worse, in the car. The purpose of makeup is to enhance your natural beauty, and it should be applied in a designated space. A makeup vanity in your bedroom is an ideal space. Take your time setting it up to ensure that you are truly happy with it.

Instructions

1. Select a vanity table. An ideal table will have ample working space and several drawers. If you cannot find a vanity table that meets your needs, considering creating one by adding a tabletop to two decorative bedside tables. Leave space between them so that you can sit at the vanity.

2. Place your table in its location with a matching chair next to it.

3. Add a mirror to the vanity. You can hang a mirror on the wall behind the table, positioning its midpoint at eye level, or simply use a freestanding mirror. If you choose the second option, use a swiveling model that has a magnifying mirror on one side and a standard mirror on the other.

4. Add light to your vanity. If there is enough table space, simply use a decorative lamp on each side of the vanity. Otherwise, mount lights on the wall. Most hardware stores sell light strips that can be mounted on the wall and plugged into an outlet. The standard positions for wall-mounted lights are at the right and left of the space. If possible, use incandescent light bulbs that simulate sunlight. Avoid fluorescent lights, as these have a greenish-blue tint.

5. Select a small decorative container to keep on the vanity. This is where you will keep the products that you use most often, such as foundation, mascara, a favorite lipstick and hairbrush.

6. Store other products in the drawers. Organize these drawers in sections to make finding specific items easy. Set aside some drawer space for disposables, such as cotton balls, cotton swabs and makeup-remover pads.

7. Position a trash can near the vanity for used tissue, cotton balls and other refuse.

8. Add personal touches such as plants and pictures of loved ones. Your makeup vanity is a place where you can escape from the stress of the day. Sitting at it should be a relaxing, even therapeutic experience.
