Decorate A Kid'S Bedroom In An Ocean Theme

Paint a child's bedroom walls turquoise.

If your child loves going to the beach, surprise him or her with an ocean-themed bedroom. A beach-inspired decor theme is versatile in that it will stay relevant and appropriate as your child ages. Even if you don't live near the beach, you can bring the beach to your child through the use of vibrant colors and themed decor pieces. If you're redecorating the child's room on a budget, slowly incorporate ocean-inspired pieces into the existing decor.

Instructions

1. Paint the bedroom walls with a shade reminiscent of ocean water. Choose vibrant turquoise or soft seafoam green, depending on your preference.

2. Decorate the walls with an underwater-inspired scene. Place tropical fish-, seashell-, dolphin- and seahorse-shaped stencils against the wall and transfer the designs with a brush dipped into paint. Use removable wall stencils as a less-permanent option.

3. Enhance the bed with a white comforter featuring turquoise or seafoam green seashell, fish, seahorse and dolphin designs. Place fish-shaped decorative pillows at the head of the bed.

4. Install two seashell-shaped sconces on either side of the child's bed for reading. Place a lamp featuring a whimsical seahorse-shaped base and a blue or green shade on the night stand or work desk.

5. Display the child's seashell collection in apothecary jars and display them on wall shelves or a bookcase. Use hot glue to attach seashells and sea glass around a wood mirror frame. Hang the mirror on a wall over a vanity table or dresser with a nail.
