Ideas For Installing A Washer & Dryer In The Bathroom

Ideas for Installing a Washer & Dryer in the Bathroom

When a separate laundry room is not an option in the home, an area that is already plumbed with access to a drain and stack line is a big asset for installing a washing machine and dryer. For this reason, the bathroom makes an excellent choice for homeowners short of space. Looking at the bathroom creatively can help homeowners fit washers and dryers into many sizes of bathrooms.

Stackable Washer and Dryer in a Closet

Install a stackable washer and dryer in a linen closet which is not getting a great deal of use. Stackable washers and dryers can take up less than two feet in space, making them ideal for small bathroom closets.

Convert and Old Tub and Shower

Remove an old five-foot tub and shower that is not getting any use and install a conventional, side by side washing machine and dryer in the space. Just be sure that the units don't come too far into the room and possibly impede on space needed to comfortably use a toilet and sink.

Move Fixtures to Corners of the Room

Maximize the space of the bathroom by moving the toilet and/or sink to the corners of the bathroom. This frees up tremendous amounts of wall space which can then be used to install a washer and dryer along a previously used wet wall.

Use a Combo/Ventless Washer and Dryer

Change out extra long vanities with only one sink for a smaller vanity with a combo washer and dryer installed beside it, and run the counter top over them both. Combo washers and dryers wash and dry clothes in the same tub and do not need to be vented, making them perfect for small spaces.
