Create Comfortable Guest Bedrooms

Comfortable guest bedrooms should make guests feel at home.

Cozy and comfortable guest bedrooms help make your guests feel welcome and relaxed, even if they are far from home. Guest rooms should be inviting and offer many of the comforts of home. Comfortable guest bedrooms should include cozy furnishings and thoughtful accents.

Instructions

1. Focus on the furniture. Your guest bedroom should have a comfortable bed for guests. Decide whether you want two twins beds or a single, larger bed. You may want to consider who your guests will be when deciding this. Clear off the dressing table or bureau so your guests will have space to spread out their toiletries and other items. Providing a luggage rack is also a helpful addition so guests can keep their bags off of the floor and out of the way. You may also want to provide a bedside table with an alarm clock so guests can set their own schedule.

2. Create a relaxing space. Consider putting a chaise lounge in the guest room near a window or at the foot of the bed so your guests have a cozy place to sit and spend their time alone. If space permits, you may also want to put a small table and chairs so your guests have their own space for meals or tea in private.

3. Provide ample closet space. Even if your guests are only staying for a short period of time, it is important to provide them with empty hangers and closet space for hanging their garments.

4. Add thoughtful touches. Place some of your favorite books next to the bed. Store extra blankets and quilts in an armoire or closet for colder nights. Spray the sheets with a calming scent, such as lavender.

5. Create a welcome kit for your guests. Include towels, soaps, shampoo and lotion. To make it extra special, add products in your guest's favorite scents and colors. Put some fresh flowers in a vase in the bedroom to welcome your guests.
