Use orange with other warm colors for a unique color combination.
Orange is a color that is often passed over when decorating because too much orange can be overwhelming. However, adding orange to the decor through accent pieces gives the room a burst of warm, bright color without detracting from the overall decor. Orange can be combined with nearly any color to create different atmospheres in a bedroom. According to "House Beautiful" author, Michele Bernhardt, orange expands your thinking and builds confidence. It creates a youthful, jubilant atmosphere in a room.
Instructions
1. Create a warm atmosphere in the bedroom by using all warm-hued colors in the decor. Pair bright orange pillows and red sheets with tangerine curtains, and opt for brown furniture instead of black. This maintains a warm feel all around.
2. Accentuate a pink room with an orange pillow, orange flower arrangement and orange pinstripes in a pink comforter. Finish the decor with neutral points such as a beige carpet and headboard and white trim along the baseboard and doors. Alternatively, give the room a retro feel by adding patterns such as paisley or zigzag flooring to the mix.
3. Add warmth to a cool, blue bedroom by throwing a subtle quilt at the bottom of the bed. Choose a quilt that has some pattern in it with white or blue as well, to help the orange blend into the room. Use a soft blue on the walls and white furniture for a tranquil room.
