Decorate A Black Dining Room

Enhance a black table with elegant silver candlesticks.

If your dining room features dramatic black walls and dark wood furniture, play on the sophisticated look by adding pops of white and metal accents. A black dining room can easily become drab looking, so keep the look fresh with flowers and other vibrant d cor. Since black blends with a wide variety of colors and patterns, it won't take much effort to transform the dark space from bleak to chic.

Instructions

1. Put black and white toile-patterned seat covers on black dining room table chairs for a classy look. Use black and white floral-printed or striped cushions as other options.

2. Hang a vintage silver chandelier with dangling crystals over the table, which will provide soft illumination during dinner parties.

3. Place a white linen runner down the center of the dining table; a runner adds a decorative look without concealing the entire table. Roll silverware in red cloth napkins secured with silver rings to bring a bit of color to the table.

4. Place a sleek silver candlestick at either end of the table. Fill the sticks with tall white taper candles.

5. Create a vibrant floral centerpiece as the room focal point. Fill an elegant cut-crystal vase with a colorful arrangement of red and orange roses, along with yellow and white star-shaped lilies. Substitute the blooms for all tulips or gerbera daisies, depending on what is in season.
