Dark Teal & Brown Bedroom Ideas

Use teal and brown to make your bedroom an inviting sanctuary.

A bedroom should be a relaxing, peaceful shelter from the problems of the world outside. Decorate your room in soothing deep teal blues and luscious shades of chocolate browns to give your room an inviting, protective feel. These calming colors will encourage you to let the problems of the day slip away while you relax in your bedroom escape.

Wall Color

Paint three of your walls a deep chocolate brown, and paint the fourth wall a dark teal. The juxtaposition of the teal against the chocolate brown will make the teal stand out. If you prefer a more solid look to your walls, paint them either chocolate or teal with a thin 2 or 3-inch border of the other color along the top of the wall.

Bedding

Dark teal and brown bedding is a common bedding theme found in many big box, department and specialty bedding stores and can be found in virtually any type of d cor style. Whether you are looking for a more tailored look with solid colors as the primary element of the bedding or you want a more decorative print, such as a swirly damask, options abound for a variety of tastes. Accent your teal and brown comforter with coordinating sheets, pillowcases, shams, accent pillows and a bedskirt for a completely coordinated and inviting-looking bed.

Accessories

Scatter touches of teal and brown throughout your room to give it a harmonized and well-thought-out look and feel. Purchase wall art, and hang it in groupings on your wall above your bed and other large furniture pieces. Look for teal and brown accessory pieces, such as photo frames, blanket throws, clocks and lamps to place around your room to bring in pops of color.

Curtains

Window treatments are often the first thing that the eye is draw to when entering a room. Plan your window treatments carefully to ensure they don't overwhelm your room and add a sense of style and function. Choose fabrics that are similar to your bedding choices and that, if necessary, will filter out the amount of light you need. If you have dark brown walls, select a mostly teal curtain for a interesting burst of color.

Furnishings

Select furnishings, such as an occasional chair, bedside tables and dressers that match with the overall style of your d cor, whether it is vintage, shabby chic, modern or an eclectic mix. Bring in teal and chocolate brown colors throughout your furnishings, such as in the fabric of your chairs or in the drawer pulls of your dressers.
