Paristhemed Bedroom Ideas For Kids

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most easily recognized sites in Paris.

A child who has French heritage, speaks French or just enjoys the foreign feel of Paris may enjoy a bedroom decorated with a Paris theme. This theme is not tied to a particular age, making it likely to last until the child moves out of the house. Focus on a few major areas of the room's decor, and bring Parisian flair into each of the areas.

Wall Paint

Use the wall paint color to set the overall color scheme for the Paris-themed bedroom. For example, a girl might select a color palette of pink and black, pink and white or a mix of a few pastels. Choose the main color to paint the walls, and include a border strip of wallpaper that has polka dots, lace, or a delicate floral or curvy print on it.

Wall Hangings

One of the easiest ways to incorporate the Paris theme is through large posters of sites in Paris. Some of the most famous landmarks include the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur and Arc de Triomphe. Smaller framed pictures of quiet scenes in Paris, such as people at restaurants or coffee shops, spots along the Seine, or classic French food, can also bring character to the room. For a younger girl, consider a poodle theme with cartoonlike images of poodles or photos of poodles in Paris.

Furniture

Choose vintage or wrought-iron furniture pieces for a Paris-themed bedroom. Most girls would enjoy a vintage canopy bed or a delicate wrought-iron bed frame. For a boy, choose a more angular wrought-iron bed frame. Put a vintage writing desk in the room for homework and maybe a small cafe table with a lamp and two chairs for hanging out with a friend. Many stores sell lamps with bases shaped like the Eiffel Tower. Give the room an elegant feel with a vintage chandelier hanging from the ceiling, if the ceiling is tall enough to leave headroom.

Decor Accessories

Choose bedding and throw pillows that fit with the color scheme and complement the other pieces of decor in the room. For a girl, choose a delicate floral print or damask comforter. In a boy's Paris-themed bedroom, opt for a black-and-white striped comforter or a comforter that depicts a black-and-white image of Paris. Place small souvenirs from Paris on the bookshelves or on small wall-mounted shelves. Hang a beret over the top of a wrought-iron coat stand in the corner.
