Create A Masculine Bathroom

Just because it's sometimes called the powder room doesn't mean that a bathroom should be feminine. Tastefully stark and understated, a man's bathroom can be stylish in the most unassuming of ways. Review the guidelines below for some useful ideas on create a masculine bathroom.

Instructions

1. Create a color palette. Consider sage green, light blue or beige as base colors, and then bring in a stronger accent color like chocolate brown or grey. Smaller spaces like bathrooms should be painted lighter colors. Not only does this give the illusion of space, it creates a tranquil environment.

2. Hang a shower curtain in a neutral or dark color, but remember the rule about lighter colors. If you're working with a small bathroom, opt for a beige or lighter colored curtain. Choose a shower curtain made of canvas or another heavier cotton material.

3. Cover your windows. Rather than curtains, opt for Roman shades or blinds. Another no frills approach to window treatments is frosted glass.

4. Remember the necessities. Hang a towel holder by the sink and lay a bathmat in front of your shower. Choose a darker color for towels and rugs to serve as a strong contrast to your lighter base color. Also, a dark rug won't show dirt!

5. Bring in decorative accents. Don't go overboard with knick-knacks, but do incorporate some functional items. Select a bathroom accessory set in faux wood as the clean lines and dark wood finish have a masculine feel about them. Include other appropriate bathroom items that have a utilitarian design.
