Create A Surfing Beach Bedroom For Kids

Add surfing prints to the room.

Let your kids ride the waves into slumber when you create a surfing beach bedroom for them. Get creative with an ocean theme, bringing rolling surf and sand colors into the room. Carry the surf-theme throughout for a bedroom your kids will love.

Instructions

1. Paint the room. Use a soft tan paint for the bottom half of the room, reminiscent of the sand and shells found at the beach, and use a deep royal blue or a sea-foam pastel on the upper half. Divide the two colors with a border of shells, an ocean motif or one containing surf boards, palm trees and surf shacks. Add a wall mural of surfers to one wall.

2. Create a headboard. Attach an old, child-size surfboard to the wall for use as a headboard for a bed. Or use stencils to paint surfers on an existing headboard.

3. Choose a sheet set in solid colors to match the ocean motif. Add a surf- or ocean-themed bedspread and bed skirt. Use a few accent pillows to complete the bed.

4. Select accessories with an ocean or surf theme. Place a lamp shade with an ocean scene or shells over a lamp. Change a light switch cover to a surf-themed one. Consider adding a surfboard ceiling fan to the room.

5. Have photos of your children surfing blown-up into poster size and frame them to hang on the wall. Or use framed photos of famous surfers cut out from magazines. Add shelves to hold any surfing trophies and certificates.
