Beadboard Bathroom Ideas

Beadboard panels can add personality to a country, French country, cottage or shabby chic bathroom. Beadboard panels have a distinctive vertical strip design and may be made from hardwoods, fiberboard and wood veneers. You can find beadboard panels in a variety of widths with heights that range from 38 to 44 inches at local lumber supply centers.

Bathroom Walls

Decorate your bathroom walls from floor to ceiling with beadboard panels. You can find beadboard panels that are preprimed in white so that you only need to add your choice of paint color. Covering old wallpaper or damaged plaster walls with beadboard panels is a decorative solution that will both camouflage and update your bathroom design.

Accent Wall

Hang beadboard panels on one wall in a bathroom to create an accent wall. Beadboard adds texture and dimension to the space; paint the panels darker or lighter than the other walls in your bathroom to enhance the accent feature.

Wainscoting

Another idea for using beadboard in your bathroom is to place the panels on the bottom half or three-quarters of one or more walls to create wainscoting. Attach decorative molding horizontally at the top of the beadboard panel to cap the design.

Ceiling

Cover a bathroom ceiling with beadboard panels to hide imperfections or outdated design choices, such as popcorn. Install beadboard panels on the walls or the ceiling with paneling glue and paneling nails.

Cabinetry

Add detailing to plain, flat cabinet doors with a beadboard accent. Cut a beadboard panel to fit the center of your bathroom cabinet doors and drawer fronts, and attach it in place with paneling glue. Cut decorative trim molding to fit around the panel, and frame the beadboard with the trim to create the accent.

Mirror Frame

Frame a plain mirror with a beadboard backing to create a distinctive mirror for your bathroom design. Cut a section of beadboard paneling 4 to 10 inches larger than the width and length of the mirror tile or mirror panel. Center the mirror onto the beadboard; use mirror mastic to attach the mirror. Trim out the beadboard panel with decorative trim to complete the frame.
