Set Up Your Bedroom In Zebras

Use a zebra pattern sparingly to make it stand out more and avoid overwhelming the bedroom.

Zebra-themed bedroom decor works for different age groups depending upon whether you want to create a trendy bedroom for a diva, a wild bedroom for an adult or a jungle-like bedroom for a toddler. The colors and accessories you use in the room should make it a comfortable space for the occupant, as well as work to create the look and style you want. Set up the entire room with your zebra theme in mind.

Instructions

1. Paint the walls in a color that complements your zebra theme. For example, a teenage girl might enjoy lavender or fuchsia walls. Only paint one wall if you're using a loud color and would prefer an accent wall. Alternatively, paint a mural or use wallpaper to create a zebra print on one wall. A zebra border can separate a neutral color, such as white, from a brighter color, such as yellow to add a flair of brightness without adding too much.

2. Arrange your furniture to complement the theme and function in the best way possible. Solid black or white furniture will work with the zebra theme without competing with the other colors in the room. Paint the dresser in a black and white zebra pattern or upholster the headboard with a zebra-print fabric if the walls don't have a zebra pattern. Replace the drawer knobs with novelty zebra knobs in a child's jungle-themed bedroom.

3. Incorporate the zebra print through linens if the walls and furniture are solid colors or neutral. There are numerous zebra print bed sets that will work with any zebra theme. A jungle bedroom could use bedding with images of a pack of zebras, while a master bedroom can use a comforter that looks like it came off a zebra with plain sheets. A teenager might prefer a black and white zebra patterned comforter with fuchsia trim and black, white and fuchsia leopard print sheets. Alternatively, use zebra print sheets with a solid-colored comforter if you used the pattern on the walls or furniture.

4. Hang mirrors, paintings, pictures or other items on the walls to complement the room. Pictures of monkeys, hippos, lions, giraffes and other animals would complement a jungle-themed room. Peel-and-stick decals are another option that isn't as permanent as painting a mural. Black-and-white photographs work in any room with black frames or brightly colored frames.

5. Accessorize the room with plants and stuffed animals for a jungle theme or a couple of zebra print items for any other bedroom. Keep the zebra print limited to avoid overdoing it. For example, a zebra-print lampshade would be too much with a zebra-print comforter unless you put it on the dresser or desk across the room from the bed. Zebra print candles, throws, pillows or a chair work in the room with other neutral or brightly colored accessories.
