Decorate Your Bedroom In Five Simple Steps

You don't need a professional to decorate your bedroom.

When you take on the task of decorating your own bedroom, you might get overwhelmed about the amount of different tasks you need to complete. Looking at a bare bedroom can make you feel like you'll never pull together the d cor to create a unified space. However, when you break down everything you need to do, you can successfully decorate your entire bedroom in five simple steps.

Instructions

1. Add the base colors to the bedroom -- the colors of the floors and walls. Paint the walls a color you find pleasant and that matches the other items you plan to incorporate. The flooring in a bedroom is usually either carpeting or hardwood.

2. Bring in the furniture. In a bedroom, you need a bed frame and mattress, a dresser, two bedside tables and possibly a large cabinet. As an option, choose a neutral color for the bedroom set to easily change up the d cor in the future.

3. Put in the lights. Bedside lamps, such as reading lights, are common in bedrooms. You can also add a floor lamp for added atmosphere so you don't have to rely on the central light, which can be too bright.

4. Layer on fabrics. This includes your comforter and decorative bed pillows, as well as curtains in the room. A nice area rug can help make a hardwood floor more cozy and inviting. Remember to match the colors so that the room is pulled together.

5. Accessorize. Wall paintings can bring bare walls to life, and mirrors can make a small bedroom look larger. A vase with fresh flowers can also be a nice touch.
