Create A Garden Themed Bedroom Decor

Consider a picket fence headboard or chair rail for a garden-themed room.

Bring the magic of a spring garden indoors for your little girl. With nature as inspiration, create a fairy grotto, butterfly playground or picket fence paradise perfect for your little girl. She can be the princess of her own garden wonderland that you create with supplies and accessories from the home and garden department.

Instructions

1. Select a paint color. Pastels are always a good choice for decorating a little girl's room and work well for a garden theme. Think about your daughter's favorite flower or if you want to add a stencil or mural to the room and choose colors that will complement your design.

2. Dress the bed and windows in a floral pattern. Purchase a floral quilt and drapes or add your own flower appliques to a plain comforter and sheer curtain panels. Butterflies, dragonflies and bees are other options for decorating your garden decor bedding and window treatments.

3. Add design elements to the walls. Wall stickers are an option if stenciling takes you out of your comfort zone. Look for wall stickers in flower and butterfly designs at craft and dollar stores. Apply them to the wall, dressers, headboard or any surface to add a touch of whimsy -- and if you don't like the placement, take them off and move them to another spot.

4. Find paper lanterns, ladybug string lights, wind chimes, watering cans, baskets and flowerpots at home and garden centers to add to your decor. Choose watering cans, baskets and flowerpots large enough to do double-duty as decorations and storage.

5. Check craft stores for silk flower garlands, floral picture frames and other garden themed accessories. Ready to finish step stools, toy chests, rocking chairs and benches can be painted and easily adorned with stenciled garden elements or more of wall stickers.

6. Decorate with wrought iron, picket fencing and lattice. Add a row of picket fencing in place of wainscoting and lattice trellis as crown molding. Use sections of fencing to make a decorative headboard.

7. Add elements containing the child's name to the bedroom for a sweet, personal touch.
