Faucet repair is basically the same among makes and models.
Whether it is a two-handle, single-handle, 4-, 6- or 8-inch faucet, all faucets leak over time. The drip, drip, drip of a leaky faucet is not only annoying, but wastes water as well. Even a do-it-yourselfer with very little experience can take care of a problem faucet with just a few common tools.
Instructions
1. Shut off the water supply to the faucet. It is usually a knob under the sink, against the back wall. Turn on the tap to allow water in the faucet to drain.
2. Pry off any cap on the handle with a flathead screwdriver and unscrew the retaining screw . When the handles are designer type, the screw is usually under the handle and can be removed using an Allen wrench.
3. After removing the handle, twist off the decorative cover at the bottom of the handles, called the bonnet. Use a wrench to remove the packing nut and pull out the valve stem assembly.
4. Remove the screw on the bottom of the valve stem with a screwdriver.
5. Pull out the old, corroded rubber washer and replace it with one of the same size and style.
6. Reassemble in the reverse order you took the handle apart. Turn the water back on to test.
