Disinfect restrooms to keep them germ-free.
The restroom is one of the most heavily used rooms in a business or public building, and over time, the sinks and toilets start to look grimy. Dirt and grime aren't just visually unappealing; they often indicate the presence of germs. Germs and bacteria flourish in an unclean restroom, but regular cleaning and disinfection keeps them at bay. Disinfect the restroom with bleach, or try a more natural alternative, such as tea tree oil or vinegar.
Instructions
1. Place a "Restroom Closed for Cleaning" sign in front of the restroom before you start cleaning.
2. Pour one cup of vinegar into the toilets each month and let it sit overnight. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of borax into the toilet bowls or urinals to remove odors. Scrub the toilets with a brush and leave the borax in the bowls or urinals overnight. Alternatively, use one cup of bleach in the bowls. Disinfect the toilet lids, as well as the area underneath them.
3. Sanitize the doors and walls surrounding the toilets if there are stalls in the restroom. Wash both sides of the doors and walls with bleach or vinegar.
4. Sanitize the shower curtain, if the restroom has a shower, by placing it in the washing machine. Add detergent and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Run the washing machine on the gentle cycle. Air dry the curtain after washing.
5. Wet a sponge with vinegar and wipe down all glass surfaces, such as mirrors and windows.
6. Mix together in a bucket three tablespoons of dish soap, two cups of water and approximately 30 tea tree oil drops. This mixture disinfects tile floors, counters and walls. It also cleans porcelain sinks and tubs. If you prefer to use bleach, pour 3/4 cup of bleach into one gallon of water.
7. Tackle mildew and mold with a mixture of equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and mist the mold to get rid of it. Spray the ceilings and walls to prevent future mold growth. This also works for mold in ceiling vents.
8. Clean all sink faucets, hand dryers, towel dispensers, light switches, knobs, toilet handles and door handles with a towel soaked in disinfectant or bleach. Handles and knobs are frequently touched, so disinfect them regularly.
9. Scrub floor drains with a mop or bristle brush wet with bleach or diluted vinegar.
10. Remove trash from the
