Cool greens give a tranquil feel to a room.
A master bedroom is a relaxing environment where people go to unwind after a busy day. It should be an environment that help sets the mood and relieves stress. Painting a master bedroom the ideal colors goes a long way to making a master bedroom a tranquil getaway but the right colors vary from individual to individual. Paint a master bedroom in colors that suite your specific needs and taste so you will feel as comfortable as possible in your sanctuary.
Instructions
1. Consider the size of the bedroom. Larger rooms can handle darker colors better because they have more wall space to reflect light. Smaller rooms tend to look closed in and cave-like. However, you can use dark colors in a smaller room in smaller doses. One dark wall behind the headboard can add to the look of a room and even make it look longer or wider depending on the room's layout.
2. Select colors that will set the mood for the room. If you want a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere choose cool colors like greens and blues. If you want a warm, cozy love nest try for warm
3. Add detail through stencils, geometric shapes and borders. Vertical lines can give a room an elegant look, geometric shapes will add a contemporary element and stenciling a border will give the room a theme. These will all add to the personal feeling of the room.
4. Test the colors on the walls first. In-store samples are too small to get a good idea how they will look on the wall. Ask for a small bottle of paint to take home or buy a 1 qt. can and paint the different colors on the wall. Your primer and paint will cover the test samples later and you can tell how much you really like the color.
