Use paint colors to create a cozy feel in your baby's room.
Choose colors for baby's room that will delight both you and your child. Mom should like the colors, too, as you will spend a lot time in the nursery. Choose gender-neutral shades of white, green or orange, or go traditional with shades of blue and pink.
Green
Green is a soothing and gender-neutral color to use in your baby's bedroom. Shades of sage or mint green provide a relaxing feel and coordinate easily with many accent colors. In a girls room, add accents in lavender and pink. In a boys room, add accents in blue and darker shades of green. White or cream window treatments work well in green rooms designed for both boys and girls.
Orange
To create a contemporary nursery for your baby, use a bright orange and white palette. This is another gender-neutral paint option. Paint walls white and use white bedding with orange accessories such as piping and trim. Bring more orange into the room with window treatments, artwork and photo frames.
Yellow
Soft, buttery yellow lends a soothing tone. Soft yellow is a neutral decorating hue that works with most themes and accent colors. Paint the walls yellow and the trim white. Add more yellow through bedding and artwork. Yellow walls work well with bunny and garden themes.
Cream
Cream is a soft neutral that looks good on its own or can be punched up with colorful accessories. For an all-cream room, paint walls cream and add cream bedding, rugs and accessories. Use furniture painted in cream shades. If color is desired, add colorful artwork, rugs and pillows. Use pillows only in mom's chair or on a spare bed, as they can be dangerous used in a crib or baby bed.
