Thai Inspired Bathroom Decor

Thailand is a Southeast Asian country known for its beautiful beaches, its bright tropical colors and its dominant religion, Buddhism. When you want to create a bathroom that is inspired by quintessential Thai elements, choose a bathroom decor that features elements of the beach or ocean. This bathroom can become a sanctuary in your home.

Walls

Choose a color that is often seen in Thailand for the walls of your bathroom. For example, Buddhist monks in Thailand often wear robes that are a deep orange-red. If you enjoy bright colors, consider painting the walls in that color. Others might prefer a more soothing Thai-inspired bathroom. If that is the case, paint your walls in an ocean blue enjoyed by tourists who love to visit Thailand.

Tile

Consider tile accents for your Thai-inspired bathroom on the floors, the countertop or the shower. If you paint the walls in a bright color, go for a more tranquil tile selection. For example, different shades of pale blues or greens would work well. If you choose a pale color for the wall, consider bright, vibrant tile colors. For example, choose large tiles in bright red, blue, green and yellow shades and lay the tiles randomly so that they look like bright Thai cloth or even Buddhist prayer flags.

Linens

Select linens for your bathroom that will complement your Thai style. Choose a curtain for the bathtub or shower made with bamboo fabric. Another option is a fabric that looks like a Thai tapestry and includes some of the bright colors that you have selected for the bathroom. Choose curtains made of a light, billowing fabric and rugs that contrast with the flooring. For example, if you have bright floors, go with a neutral rug, but choose bright rugs to pair with a neutral floor.

Accessories

Bring home your Thai theme with the accessories you place in the bathroom. Frame pictures of Thailand's beaches, coconut trees and jungles and hang them on the walls. Place ceramic elephant figurines on shelves, the back of your toilet or your countertop. A Buddha figurine in a color that complements the space would also be a Thai touch. Add bright green plants to give the bathroom a vibrant feel.
