Add some purple and green for a lively bedroom decor.
A bedroom with a purple and lime decor can be designed to appear bright and exciting or stylish and sophisticated. You can combine both looks with a focal wall, bright floral arrangements, and solid bedding and window treatments.
Instructions
1. Paint three of the bedroom walls in a very pale lime paint color and use the remaining wall as a focal wall. Divide the wall as evenly as possible into 12-inch sections. Each 12-inch section will be divided into a three-inch stripe and a nine-inch stripe. To do this, use a measuring tape to divide the 12-inch sections. In each 12-inch section, measure 9 inches from the left, and put up green painter's tape on the right side of that mark.
2. Paint each 9-inch section in a medium-dark purple paint color. Allow the paint to dry for 24 hours and apply a second coat. Remove the painter's tape and allow the paint to dry again for 24 hours.
3. Cover the edges of the pale purple paint with green painter's tape and paint the 3-inch sections with a bright lime green. Allow the paint to dry and apply a second coat.
4. Use a solid purple bedspread or comforter with lime green sheets and pillowcases. You can also monogram the pillowcases with a purple thread for additional contrast.
5. Hang medium-dark purple sheer curtains on the windows on a nickel or silver-toned curtain rod, and make a silk flower valance. To do this, use a plain garland of greenery that is approximately 30 percent longer than the window. Attach lime green and purple silk flowers to the garland. Attach the garland to the two ends and the middle of the nickel curtain rod with green floral wire.
6. Fill a large lime green vase with purple silk flowers and a large purple vase with lime green silk flowers. Fill smaller lime green and purple vases with a combination of green and purple flowers. Place the vases on nightstands, armoires and other furniture in the room.
7. Hang a large framed picture on one of the pale lime green walls. For a dramatic effect, try to find a black and white floral picture with just a hint of green or purple color in it.
