An all-white bedroom can convey a cool, sophisticated look.
No other color evokes the cool, crisp calm that white does. It has long been associated with cleanliness and cool comfort. For a sophisticated look, decorate your bedroom using white as the main color and feature at least one brightly colored accent color. If you have hardwood floors, leave them bare for an ultra-sophisticated look.
White on White
All white paints are not alike. Different white paints from different manufacturers or even within the same manufacturer's line vary in color. Paint the walls, mirror frames, picture frames, and furniture all slightly different shades of white for a very sophisticated look. Put a colorful patchwork quilt on the bed. Its riotous color will be balanced by all the white in the room. Finish the look with flowing white curtains.
White with Brights
If you're stuck with white walls in a rental unit and cannot change them, make the best of them. Decorate your bedroom with bright drapes and a coordinating bedspread. Add even more color with decorative pillows in bright solids and prints. Hang a brightly colored print on the wall from which you draw the inspiration for the spread and drapes. Put down an oriental rug in a complementary color to help overpower the white walls.
Cool White
If you want a bedroom with a cool, crisp feel, decorate it in white along with cool colors like shades of blue and gray that are accented with chrome or silver. The gray is calming and the cool blues and crisp whites evoke the feeling of coolness--especially important in a hot climate. Use a very light blue or white on the walls, gray carpet and a bedspread and curtains in a print featuring white, blue and gray. A chrome headboard and drawer pulls add cool sparkle to the d cor.
