Girly Teen Bedroom Design Ideas

Floral-themed bedding can add a femine touch to a bright, funky room.

Use a girly bedroom design to celebrate the woman you're becoming, as well as the things that delighted you from your childhood. Make your bedroom sweet and feminine if you enjoy being surrounded by soft textures and colors. Decorate your entire bedroom in a feminine manner or only include a few girly elements if you don't want to be bombarded with it.

Flower Power

Flowers are typically considered girly objects, particularly when it comes to bedroom decor. You can focus on flowers or a particular color scheme and bring it all together with floral accessories. For example, use a duvet or comforter with orange, pink, yellow, blue and lime green daisies to accentuate bright accessories, such as artwork, pillows and a rug. If you want a pink bedroom, there are tons of floral options that incorporate pink and red, pink and yellow, pink and blue, black and white with red or pink and green. For a slightly different approach, consider pink and chocolate brown cherry blossoms. Hang small strings of lights shaped like flowers over your bed or mirror.

Princess or Diva

Princess or diva themes, whichever you prefer, is all about pink, soft and spoiled. Pink satin sheets, a velvet-upholstered headboard, iridescent chiffon canopy and shaggy pink rugs will transform your bedroom into a girly lair. The walls can be pink or white, or have a pink and white design such as lipstick prints or hearts. Use white furniture to ground the room and keep it from being overpowered by the pink. Include a dresser, vanity and desk. Add small pink accessories such as a picture holder, lamp, jewelry box, perfume bottles and pink candles. Drape pink feather boas over a mirror, on top of the curtains or on the dresser.

Shapes

Use shapes to create a feminine space or balance out girly colors. Butterflies, lip smudges, fairies, flowers, polka dots and unicorns can all help create a room that screams "girl." Or, use stripes, circles, squares or rectangles to balance out a girly color scheme. Pink and chocolate brown, turquoise and chocolate brown, purple and lime green or light blue and lime green can all help create feminine rooms with shapes as the focus for a funky twist. Use the shapes on bedding, curtains and artwork, then carry out the colors with soft pillows, shaggy rugs and fluffy lamps. Use beaded curtains to cover the windows and closet using the same colors and shapes as found elsewhere in the room.

Animal Print

Mix animal prints together or go wild with animal prints in bright colors for a girly room with a wild side. A black and white bedroom with zebra print can be dressed up with hot pink, purple, turquoise or lime green accessories. Pink or purple cheetah print bedding, pillows and curtains will add spice to any bedroom. Leopard and giraffe prints are also available. Include a mosquito net canopy over your bed in any color that complements your bedroom decor.
