Decorate A Small Basement Bedroom

Decorate a Small Basement Bedroom

Adding a small basement bedroom to the home is a way to add extra sleeping space but it can also feel cramped and dark for the person who has to use it. Decorating a small basement bedroom so that it is stylish and seems larger than it is will help to make the room feel more comfortable. There are a number of decorating tricks that can make a small basement bedroom look great.

Instructions

1. Choose a color scheme to use. Pick two or three complementary colors, such as yellow, blue and green and use them throughout the room.

2. Paint the walls a light color, such as yellow. Use the light color to make the room feel brighter and more spacious. Light colors help to visually open up a room.

3. Add mirrors to the room. A long vertical mirror creates the illusion of height and reflects light throughout the room. This makes the room feel taller and larger than it is. Place another mirror opposite it with a lamp nearby to help magnify the light in the room.

4. Combine functional furniture and storage items. Add a dresser to one corner and place a lamp on it. Use a closet organizer and put flat rolling storage bins under the bed.

5. Choose a bedspread and artwork for the room that use the decorating color scheme. These will complement the walls and create a cohesive appearance for the room.
