Turn your bathroom into an oasis of luxury.
Although the bathroom is typically used strictly for function and utility, it can, on special occasions, be used to stage a romantic interlude between you and your sweetheart. Couples consumed with energy-draining responsibilities, such as careers, children, bills and household chores, often find it difficult to slip away and reconnect with one another without the pressures of the outside world. Make your bathroom over into a soothing paradise to help the two of you leave your troubles far behind.
Instructions
1. Clean the scene. A dirty and cluttered bathroom is the antithesis to romance. Scrub the toilet, sink, bathtub, shower walls and floor. Put away everything that isn't essential, beautiful or soothing to look at. Store hair products, toothbrushes, mouthwashes, cosmetics and the like inside bathroom drawers or cabinets. If you don't have storage for these items, gather and store them outside the bathroom until your romantic interlude is over.
2. Dramatize the lighting by placing candles all around the room for a soft, dreamy glow; put them around the perimeter of the bathtub, sink and toilet as space permits. If it's in your budget, install a dimmer switch to turn your overhead lighting down and enhance the mood.
3. Steam up the scene by running a hot bath or shower. Use your finger to write declarations of love to your sweetheart on the mirror. Drop handfuls of rose petals in the water, so they float around you and your significant other as you relax together. Pour in bubble bath and sweetly scented oils to create a romantic playground for your senses.
4. Create a song playlist that expresses how you feel about your partner and play it quietly in the background. Raise the romance ante by staring deep into her eyes and singing or lip syncing along with lyrics that mirror your emotions.
5. Place clean, thick rugs on the floor and set out soft fluffy towels, washcloths and robes so that everything you and your mate's skin touches makes you both feel pampered and caressed.
6. Set up a snack tray filled with exotic fruits such as chocolate-dipped strawberries, mango and pineapple slices and other sensuous food and drink such as oysters, caviar, rich pastries and champagne.
