By bringing creative design elements from the dining room into the bathroom, you can create a space that blends with the restaurant, rather than giving customers the feeling that they left the building when they stepped into the restroom.

1. Decorate the restroom in clean lines for an Italian-style restaurant. Incorporate ceramic, marble, or travertine tiles from Italy to create a more luxurious appearance. Place potted plants, such as grapevines, along the ceiling line to drape down the walls.
2. Place mosaic tiling along the floor and walls in the restroom of a Spanish restaurant. Deep reds, browns and copper tones are prominent in Spanish design. Avoid stainless steel and shiny faucets, door knobs and wastebaskets; choose bronzed finishes instead.

Shiny finishes in black, white and stainless steel are attractive finishes in a modern restroom. Use deep wood tones for accents such as towel trays, soap dishes and statues. 9. Place the garbage can close to the exit door. Customers will appreciate being able to open the door to exit while covering their hand with a paper towel.
10. Avoid cluttering countertops, as this will cause people to move plants, statues and pictures with wet hands and potentially damage the objects.
