Kill Ants In A Bathroom

Ants prowl bathrooms in search of food, water and shelter.

Ants are common household pests that enter bathrooms in search of food, water and shelter. If not removed in a timely manner, ants can weaken the wood structure in your bathroom, chew holes in your clothing and wreak havoc on your health. Learning permanently rid your bathroom of nuisance ants is a must if you want your bathroom and home to stay clean, beautiful and pest-free.

Instructions

1. Pinpoint the exact location where ants are entering and exiting your bathroom. Caulk all cracks and openings that ants are using to enter and exit your home. You can purchase caulking at hardware stores.

2. Spray a store-bought ant repellent around the perimeter of your bathroom and on all visible ants. You can purchase ant repellent at grocery, drug and hardware stores.

3. Remove the dead ants to prevent other ants from being attracted to the ant carcasses. Use a damp paper towel to pick up the dead ants and place them in a secure garbage receptacle.

4. Clean your bathroom floor with vinegar and water. Since ants are repelled by the smell of vinegar, thoroughly clean your bathroom surfaces with vinegar and water to prevent ants from re-entering.

5. Locate and destroy all ant colonies outdoors, spraying an ant repellent on the colony. The University of Minnesota Extension recommends retreating the nest site if above ground activity resumes after the initial application. Follow the directions on the repellent's label to ensure lasting success.
