Inexpensive Girls' Bedroom Ideas

Girls can choose from many cost-efficient decor themes.

Little girls are interesting creatures that deserve great bedrooms. After all, bedrooms are where they play, daydream, study and sleep. Many parents want their daughters to have elaborate, colorful rooms, but don't think they have the budget to put it all together. If you are starting a room decoration project for your little princess, you can actually do it without breaking the bank. Start by choosing your theme, and then use creativity to set up a dream room.

Inexpensive Furniture Ideas

One of the most expensive parts of decorating your little girl's bedroom can be buying the furniture. However, you can save money if you take on a thrifty mindset. Start by assessing what you already have and then decide what you need. Most girls' rooms have a bed, dresser, mirror, desk and some sort of toy storage. If you already have some of these pieces, but they don't match the new decoration theme, paint them to fit in. Buy used furniture at a thrift sale or garage sale for any pieces you don't have. They don't have to match -- you can change them. For example, you can easily paint a bed frame, dresser and desk with white paint and then stencil on pink flowers. Install cost-efficient shelving or closet storage systems for toy or book storage. Replace old dresser drawer handles with crystal-ball or whimsical animal pulls to give it a new look.

Inexpensive Bedding Ideas

If your daughter wants a princess or fairy theme, save money by avoiding pre-packaged bedding sets. Simply purchase a marked-down, purple, pink or white comforter. Buy white tulle and hang it from the ceiling to fall down around her bed. Purchase inexpensive gauzy or lace curtains from a discount store to match the bedding look. You can also find cheap throw pillows on sale at your local discount store. The key is to buy the different items separately and on sale. Peruse online sale opportunities such as Ebay and Etsy.

Inexpensive Wall Art Ideas

Choose from several ways to decorate your little girl's bedroom walls. If you have the time and materials, you can easily paint the walls to match her theme. For example, if she has chosen a flower theme and you've purchased a flower-patterned bedspread, you can paint the walls a light green or yellow color. If you don't want to paint all the walls, choose one accent wall to paint a solid color. If you and your daughter have artistic talents, you can even paint wall art decorations together. According to Disney Family Fun, some families paint large wall murals together, such as city skylines or fairytale scenes. If you don't have much artistic ability, use stencils to create floral or heart-shaped borders around the room. You can also use stencils and paint to create a tree on her wall. Simply add butterfly and bird stickers around the tree art to complete the look.
