Make Your Bedroom Cozy

Creating a cozy bedroom will help you get a good night's sleep.

If you are of the belief your bedroom is purely for sleeping and intimate meetings with your partner, then you are missing out. Your bedroom should also be your sanctuary, a place you can relax and escape the commotion of life. Of course, if you believe your bedroom is plain and uninviting, it is understandable that you would not want to spend any length of time in it. A few simple changes and small additions, however, can transform your bedroom into the perfect cozy refuge.

Instructions

1. Start by clearing your bedroom of clutter. Find appropriate storage for anything lying about on the floor and clear all the surfaces of your furniture. Your bedroom will be instantly more appealing to you with fewer items lying around.

2. Take your time choosing a color scheme for your bedroom. Take into consideration the amount of light as well as the size of the room. Deep colors, such as red, add warmth to a room but can also make it look smaller. White or very bright colors will appear garish if your room has a lot of natural light. Opt for neutral-color walls such as peach or light brown or you can use a combination of soft pastel colors such as rose pink or baby blue.

3. Add carpet to your room. This will provide warmth, as well as feeling nice to walk on. If you do not want carpet, try placing a large rug in the room. If you want to stick to hard flooring, paint it to complement your room's color scheme.

4. Hang curtains instead of blinds. Curtains will add a soft and flowing feeling to your bedroom; they can also add texture depending on the material. Blinds, while practical during the day, can make a room feel cold. If you want privacy during the day when your curtains are open add a sheer panel to the window.

5. Pick suitable lighting for your room. Adding a dimmer switch to your main light means you can change the room's ambiance to suit your mood. Subtle lighting will also keep within your cozy theme as oppose to harsh or bright lights.

6. Use quality linen for your bed. Not only will this add to the cozy-feel of your bedroom, it will aid a restful night's sleep. Plush bedding and feather or down pillows and comforter will make your bed warm and inviting.
