Children'S Bedroom Decor

Children's Bedroom Decor

Decorating your children's bedrooms can be as much of an adventure for you as it is for your child's enjoyment. Find ways to open your children's mind through the décor in their bedroom. Custom-painted murals or premade scenes from books as wall art set the stage for fun and unique experiments in your children's bedroom décor.

Fairy Tales

Some of the most creative and interesting bedroom décor for your children is based on fairy tales. Murals depicting scenes of a castle fit for a young prince or princess or forests hosting babbling brooks and baby animals are straight out of your child's favorite story or fairy tale. Translate the pages of the book onto the wall in painted scenery and around the bedroom in furniture design.

Pirates

A hammock-style bed facing a shipwrecked schooner coming out of the wall that doubles as a desk or a treasure chest filled with your children's special toys are features you would find in a pirate themed bedroom décor. The walls are painted in layers of blue, representing different shades of the ocean and hardwood floors cover the floors, as they do on the ship. Bunk beds dressed as a ship's deck on the bottom and a lookout perch on the top make an interesting focal point in your children's bedroom.

Rain Forest

Trees with branches large enough to hold a tiger and draping vines filled with monkeys and orangutans circle your children's rain forest décor. Add colorful macaws and plants in all shades of green and your mural or wallpaper will take your children into a different world. A long, winding river snakes across one wall, and a mountain range can be seen in the distance of another wall. Thick green carpeting, like moss, covers the floors and the beds blend into the background disguised as hollow trees or a flowering branch.

Aquarium

Paint the walls graduating shades of light to dark blue and buy large fish wall decals for a quick aquarium theme in your children's bedroom décor. Add a few bubbles and a diver or two and your walls will be complete. Decorate the bed to look like an opened treasure chest and have bookshelves made from half of a canoe. Aquarium rooms are easy to create for your children's bedrooms.

Travel

Older children may appreciate a travel décor. Posters from exotic locations cover the walls, and suitcases patched with travel stickers act as shelving or storage. Paint the dresser to look like a closed steamer trunk and hang souvenirs from around the globe on the walls. Visits to your local import stores will give you some classic travel ideas for your children's bedroom décor.
