Decorate A Bedroom With Gray Black & Brown

Decorating a room in gray, black and brown can be done multiple ways.

The color scheme is one of the first things that stands out about a room when you enter it. Some colors, like blue and green, tend to go well together, while others such as pink and gold may not be the best combination for an aesthetically pleasing effect. Gray, black and brown are all colors that tend to go nicely together, provide a neutral backdrop and they can work well in a bedroom environment.

Instructions

1. Lay down a gray or brown carpeting in the bedroom. If you have wood floors, discard the carpeting entirely and let the brown wood of the flooring become a major part of your color scheme.

2. Decide which color you want to use on your walls. Darker colors can be stifling, so black should be used sparingly. However, both gray and lighter browns can be used to set the tone of the room. You could also put up a border in the other color as an accent. For example, you can hang a brown border on a gray wall. Be sure the brown is in a cool brown tone to match the cool tone of the gray.

3. Fill the room with black and brown furniture. The two colors go well together so all the furniture doesn't have to be one or the other. If you've painted the walls brown, use more black furniture so you don't over-saturate the room with a single color. Alternately, add some pieces with chrome or silver metal accents, such as a desk, that can add the gray color scheme into the furniture as well. Try to make the pieces understated, so the room does not look smaller.

4. Drape a gray, brown or black comforter over the bed. Try to use a shade that differs from the wall color and that accents the furniture effectively. Likewise, consider adding decorative pillows to the bed that complement the comforter, such as gray pillows on a black comforter or black pillows on a brown comforter. If the walls are light, consider using a dark comforter and vice-versa.

5. Add photographs and other personalized touches to the room that benefit your color scheme. Photos are easily placed in black or brown frames that will match the furniture or accent the walls. Or use silver metal frames to add a modern touch.
