Decorate A Bedroom In Black & Red

To decorate a bedroom in black and red you'll want to focus on all aspects of the bedroom's furnishing and d cor and incorporate the colors into items you already need. This way you will avoid adding unnecessary items that have no real function in the bedroom. Whether you're looking to spice up the bedroom or just add a little pop of color, choosing a black and red theme will probably do both.

Instructions

1. Paint the wallsa shade of red or black. If you don't want red or black walls, using white or beige can create a background to the room without distracting from the color scheme.

2. Apply stencils or decals to the wall, as desired to add more detailed elements to the room such as scrolling elements or fleur-de-lis. Black stenciling or decals usually makes more of a statement than using a white or red stenciling on a black wall.

3. Select black furniture or a dark wood, such as mahogany for the bed, as well as any end tables, dressers or bookshelves. Add the furniture to the room in a layout which suites the space, leaving doorways and windows clear.

4. Spread a rug which uses solid black or red for a dramatic punch or select a rug which incorporates geometric shapes or floral patterns using red and black. Use one large rug or place smaller rugs throughout the room.

5. Choose black curtains for darkening the room or red for adding a tinge of color to the walls when the curtains are pulled during sunny days. For a softer look, uses white or beige curtains featuring large red poppies or roses to keep the color scheme going.

6. Include red and black in the patterns of fabrics selected for your bedding, from sheets and pillowcases to the comforter or quilt on the bed. If your bedding colors are solid black or red, add throw pillows or throw blankets of the opposite color to keep the red and black theme.

7. Consider the accessories in your bedroom such as pictures or paintings. Changing picture frames to red, black or a dark wood, or including red and black images within the frames can add color to your walls or surface of end tables or a dresser.

8. Pick out lamps and lampshades which feature red and black as the main colors. Red-and- black shades may be difficult to find while black lamps are readily available at most home furnishing stores. If you choose to have candles in your bedroom, select black or red candles.
