Declutter Bathroom Counter Space

A clutter-free bathroom counter makes a morning routine easier.

The bathroom counter can collect clutter in many forms. The things most people use every day, such as toothbrushes and contact lens solution, are usually on the counter. Other, less-used items can also make a home on the counter, such as hair-styling tools or makeup that never sees use. Decluttering the bathroom counter mostly involves separating what you use every day from what you do not.

Instructions

1. Go through all makeup or other personal-care products. If you find any products that are expired, that you have not used in one year or that irritate your skin, throw them away. Go through all skin- and hair-care products, as well as makeup.

2. Separate the makeup, skin-care and hair-care products that you do not use every day. Put them in a vanity drawer. If you don't have drawers under your sink, buy a portable plastic storage unit with drawers and store the less-used items there.

3. Gather the products you use every day onto a single tray, and place the tray on the counter.

4. Go through the rest of the products on the counter, and decide whether the people who share your bathroom use them every day. If so, put them on a separate tray or on yours if you have room. If not, put them in the vanity drawers. Insert a drawer divider into the drawers to keep everyone's items separate.

5. Put the tooth-care items on or in a toothbrush holder. If you don't have one, use a small cup to hold the toothpaste and brushes. Keep floss on the tray or in a drawer.

6. Remove all electrical items from the counter surface, even if you use them every day. Store them in the top drawer of the vanity or in the medicine cabinet for easy access.
