Decorate A Bedroom In Oriental Style

Have fun with colors when decorating your bedroom in Oriental style.

Oriental style interior design is lovely in just about any room. Also known as Asian style, it's versatile and bold, yet also minimalist, with rich textiles and bountiful outdoor elements. To decorate a bedroom in Oriental style, you first need to know the type of environment that you hope to create. Oriental style interior design can be soothing and relaxing for a bedroom.

Instructions

1. Paint your bedroom using colors such as tan, red and sage green. The color red is a fundamental part of Oriental style as it's generally thought of as a color that brings good luck. Other colors that are often used in Oriental style are gray and brown.

2. Add furniture to your room that is dark wood. The wood should be a burgundy or chocolate tone. Light-colored furniture is not conducive to Oriental style. If you already have lighter-colored furniture, feel free to paint or stain it darker.

3. Use plants in your bedroom. Oriental interior design always encompasses plants and greenery in general. To make it look especially Asian, use bamboo plants, a quintessential Asian plant. Bonsai trees look nice as well.

4. Add texture to your bedroom by using accessories made out of materials such as rice paper and bamboo. Purchase bamboo frames and candles. A room divider made with dark wood and rice paper also adds an Oriental element to your decor.

5. Add Oriental-themed art to your walls. The wall decor will make a strong impact. Hang framed prints of Asian word symbols. You can also hang scrolls written with Chinese or Japanese symbols. Keep the frames on the prints dark.
