Furnish A Bedroom

Add candles and other accessories to accessorize the furnished room.

Bedrooms, by definition, must be furnished with certain essentials. There should be a comfortable sleeping, sitting, dressing, and working space in the room. By choosing the right furnishings, it's possible to turn any room into a bedroom.

Instructions

Furnish a Bedroom

1. Start with an empty room. Decide on the layout. Designate a spot for sleeping, sitting, working, and dressing. Plan according to where the outlets in the room are located. Plan to place furniture in a way that will take advantage of all available space.

2. Set up the bed frame in your chosen space. Top it with the box spring and mattress. Make the bed with the new linens and bedspread. Place the night stand next to the bed. Consider adding new window treatments at this point.

3. Bring in the dresser. Many people like to have one large dresser and a smaller one for extra storage. Dressers are best near a corner, close to the closet. This puts all the bedroom owner's clothes in one general location and allows for easy access. It also provides a small open area in front of the dressers and closet to dress. A room divider or screen can be used as a wall to provide privacy. Place a mirror on the wall in the dressing area for an added touch of usefulness and style.

4. Bring in the desk and set it up. Designate a spot near outlets to ensure you have a place to plug in the computer other electronics. Add a chair that can be pushed in under the desk to save space. Place wall art on the walls.

5. Finish by adding some seating. A love seat or small couch works well. If possible, place seats near the window. Natural light will flood the sitting area, ensuring it will become a welcoming place to sit, relax and read.
