A sofa table is a versatile piece that can be as functional in a bedroom as it is in a living room or den. As there are many personal items in a bedroom that the table could hold, you might even find it to be more useful in that location than in another room in the house. You can keep the sofa table aesthetically appealing while making it functional as well.
Vanity
A sofa table can be transformed into a vanity for your bedroom. Hang a large framed mirror on the wall above the sofa table; look for a frame that matches the wood of the table or that suits the decor of the room. Place a few mason jars on the table and fill them with the products you use. One could hold lipsticks and lip glosses; another could serve as storage space for makeup brushes. If you are an avid reader and need more space to store your books, turn a sofa table into a small bookshelf. Choose some decorative bookends and place a selection of books in between them on the sofa table. Place a small reading lamp on the end of the table. If you need extra storage space for small items of clothing or accessories, you can use your sofa table in an attractive, organized way. Collect an eclectic mix of baskets -- from wicker to wire -- that match the decor of your bedroom. Fill the baskets with small items, such as socks, ties, scarves or bracelets. If your sofa table is multitiered, include baskets on all the shelves.
Functional Mix
You don't have to dedicate your sofa table to just one purpose. Place a few baskets of items on a bottom shelf and some accessories in a drawer. Set a few framed photos of your family on the tabletop for a decorative touch. Add a table lamp; it's a good way to add decoration and soft lighting to your bedroom as an alternative to bright, overhead lights.
