Buy Bedroom Furniture

There are certain things to consider before buying bedroom furniture. Your budget, room size and decorating style are all factors in what you decide to buy for bedroom furniture. Buying second hand bedroom furniture is often a great way to pick up quality pieces at budget prices.

Instructions

1. Look at the size of your room. What can you comfortably fit into the room and still leave space for walking about? Maybe you will have to skip the king size bed and settle for a queen size, if you think space will be tight.

2. Decide what you need rather than what you want. For example, you want a double Queen Anne dresser with matching mirror. You need a place to store your clothes. A simple five drawer chest may be better suited for your budget and room size.

3. Consider who will be using the furniture. While Brazilian rosewood may be beautiful and durable, is it a wise choice for a preschooler's bedroom? MDF (medium density fiberboard) furniture, which is inexpensive and easy to replace may be a better choice for a small child, who is apt to color on it and cover it with stickers.

4. Look for quality over quantity. If you are looking for bedroom furniture that you plan to keep for a long time, or want to pass on to your children or grandchildren, then look for quality made pieces, with dovetail edges and real hardwood finishes, not veneers. They may be more expensive, so pick up one or two items at a time.

5. Find quality bedroom furniture at flea markets, antique stores and second hand shops. If you don't have your heart set on a matched bedroom set then selecting a few mismatched pieces can be an economical way of buying quality bedroom furniture.
