If you're not ready to get rid of your old bedroom furniture, spice it up with a few techniques such as repainting, adding customized details, and replacing old hardware.

1. Clean the bedroom furniture by wiping it down with a damp rag immediately following with a dry rag. Use a sandpaper with a fine grit to lightly sand the bedroom furniture. After sanding, wipe the furniture with a microfiber rag to remove dust.

2. Paint or stain the furniture depending on the look that you want. Paint the furniture with white paint for a casual chic style, stain it darker for a modern style, use light to medium brown shades for traditional style, or go with bright green or blue for country style.

4. Install curtain rods between the posts of a poster bed and hang soft cotton curtains, or drape and tie some gauze netting around the posts for a romantic and exotic look. Matching bed coverings and accessories such as a mosquito net can instantly transform an old bedroom furniture collection.

5. Replace the old hardware on armoires, chests, and dressers with new hardware. For a modern style, select sleek stainless knobs. For children's furniture, use colorful knobs with their favorite characters. A traditional style can have knobs with intricate designs. Most hardware stores have a wide assortment of knobs and other hardware.
