Ideas To Set Up A New Year'S Dining Buffet

Decorations are an integral part of any New Year's Eve.

Offering more choices than a typical dinner, a dining buffet has the more relaxed attitude typical of New Year's Eve celebration. Since New Year's is about having fun with friends and family, celebrating the holiday with a buffet instead of a formal dinner can also easily accommodate a larger group of people.

Food and Drink

Decide on a food and drink theme for the night. A theme will help the buffet seem unified and well-thought-out. If you choose an Italian theme for the New Year's buffet, for appetizers you can make bruschetta, fried calamari and carpaccio. For the main dishes, you can have pasta carbonara, margarita pizza and lasagna. The dessert menu can include panna cotta, tiramisu and gelato. Finally, you can purchase Italian wines and spirits as the drinks for the night.

Decorations

Decorate your place with bright-colored decorations. Buy party hats and make each person wear one. Purchase a "Happy New Year!" sign and hang it behind the buffet table. Buy various noise makers for when the clock strikes midnight.

Table Layout

The table should be arranged from left to right. The table should start with the plates and silverware. The appetizers, main course and desserts should follow in order. The table should end with the drinks and glasses.

Room Setup

The room should have enough seating and standing areas for your guests to interact. The buffet table should be against the wall opposite to the main door. If you plan on watching the countdown live, have the TV in the center of the room. Place musical speakers in one corner of the room. Hook them up to a musical device and play low-key music throughout the night. Once everyone is finished eating, play more lively music.
