A Moroccanstyle Bedroom

Moroccan decor has a very luxurious appearance.

If you'd like to transform your bedroom with a beautiful Moroccan theme, there are a few simple things you can do to make a big difference. As a general rule, Moroccan color themes center around rich, jewel and earthy tones such as deep purple, sand, maroon, emerald and bold blues. The dramatic color change combined with decorative fabrics, cushions, candles and other simple embellishments provide an authentic Moroccan look and offer a relaxing sanctuary in your home.

Instructions

1. Give your bedroom a new coat of interior paint in the jewel or earth tone of your choice. Moroccan decor never features plain white--even on walls--so make sure to paint your ceiling as well. If you have white window sills or shelves, you may want to paint them in a complimentary tone such as black, gold or silver.

2. Replace your comforter or quilt with a colorful cover made of silk, wool or velvet.

3. Place a mirror with an embellished frame on the wall. Frames with tile detail and hexagonal patterns will add an especially Moroccan touch.

4. Use tapestries rather than curtains to cover your windows, as Moroccan decor fabrics should be very thin and light. The tapestries can be used as curtains, wall hangings or canopies and offer an elaborate look that's very inexpensive.

5. Replace any chairs with decorative floor cushions. Floor cushions are very comfortable and will tie the Moroccan theme together.

6. Use a dresser and bed set made from dark woods such as cherry or mahogany.

7. Add small iron and brass accessories, including vases and candlesticks, to support the luxurious look.
