Bedroom Furniture Ideas For Small Bedrooms

Small bedroom

Having a traditional bedroom, equipped with dressers, nightstands, drawer chests are large beds is surely a desirable dream. But, some of us just can't afford that luxury because of our limited floor space. Opt for furniture alternatives that minimize use of floor space and before you know it, you'll find yourself in a light and airy bedroom.

Space Saving Beds

Beds are by far the largest pieces of furniture in a bedroom. If your kids are sharing a room, the majority of floor space is taken up by their beds. An effective space saving alternative is opting for bunk beds or a trundle bed. As you likely know, bunk beds are simply two twin beds stacked on top of one another. A trundle bed is simply a twin bed with an additional concealed twin mattress below the frame of the bed. Both are space-saving alternatives. However, if you would like to make the room appear larger, a trundle bed is ideal as it visually takes up less space.

Alternative Night Stand

Nightstands add more bulk to a room than necessary. Essentially, nightstands are used to host a lamp an alarm clock and your nighttime reading material; the drawers go unused for the most part. Free up the floor space and visually eliminate the bulk created by nightstands by removing your nightstand and opting for a shelf. That's right, a shelf. Choose a shelf that is approximately 1 to 2 feet long and mount it at a level that would be equivalent to the tabletop of your previous nightstand. Then, all you have to do is make your lamp, book and alarm clock at home on their new shelf nightstand.

Unnecessary Storage

There is no need to have both a large dresser and a drawer chest in your bedroom; the drawer chest should suffice. Eliminate your large dresser by removing out-of-season clothes and transferring remaining clothes into your closet. Use a vacuum-seal storage bag to store your out-of-season clothing under your bed. Then, transfer all of the remaining clothing from your dresser to your closet. If you've run out of hanging space, install shelves above your closet rod and neatly fold your clothes onto the shelves.
