Help With Ideas For Redoing Bathrooms

Update a tired or boring bathroom.

With as much time as you spend in the bathroom, the space should be not only visually appealing, but also functional. When you decide to redo the bathroom, take the time to look around the space and decide what works and what doesn't work in the room. Stick with decorating ideas that improve the function and style of your bathroom.

Bathroom Storage

Bathrooms are typically small rooms that lack sufficient storage. Consider ways you can add storage to the room. Add an over-the-toilet shelving unit where you can store towels and daily beauty products. If this leaves you squeamish, put a tall, narrow shelving unit in a corner of the room. Use baskets to store items such as hair accessories. Roll up towels and arrange them in baskets, as well.

Update Wall Color

Change the wall color to give your bathroom a fresh, clean feel. Remove wallpaper and borders, especially any applied years ago. Pick a light, refreshing color for the walls, such as blue, sea green, lemon yellow or white. Light colors also open up a small space, making the bathroom feel much larger and more open.

Coordinate Accessories

Pick accessories that work well together. Add new hardware to cabinets. Home-improvement stores offer multiple types of finishes, including stainless steel, brass and brushed nickel. Update bathtub and sink faucets. Don't forget to update the lighting fixtures.

Window Treatments

Choose a window treatment that complements the other colors in the room. Or pick a treatment that brings in even more color. Consider hanging a beaded curtain over a neutral-colored curtain. The neutral curtain can provide the privacy you crave, while the beaded curtains can add a pop of bright color.
