Bedroom Furniture Arrangement Ideas

How a bedroom is arranged can completely change the look.

Since bedrooms have a large amount of furniture for the size of the room, they are often cluttered. There is little that can be done about this except to try and space the furniture around the room to free up the middle of the room. The best way to arrange a bedroom is to start by placing the bed and working the rest of the furniture in around it.

Bed Placement

The bed placement is the most important part of furniture arrangement in a bedroom. Not only is the bed the largest piece of furniture in the room, but it is also the most used. It is important to place the bed in a place where it looks good and provides function at the same time. Placing the bed under a large window is one way to focus the room. Do not place a bed near a window that will often be open. Usually the bed is placed on the wall that is opposite the door of the room so it is the first visible object when entering the room. Do not place the bed where it interferes with doors, other furniture or walkways.

Nightstands

Nightstands provide a way to use lamps and other necessary objects, such as alarm clocks, right next to the bed. Usually the nightstands are placed against either side of the bed, but this is not always necessary. If there is not enough space beside the bed for a nightstand, it can be placed on a smaller wall of the room. A large nightstand can also be a great place to put a television set opposite the bed.

Dresser

Dressers often make a room look cluttered. If your closet is large enough, consider placing the dresser inside the closet to free up space in the room. If this is not feasible, then place the dresser on an open wall where it will not interfere with the bed. You can place the dresser on an opposite wall if you have no television, or you can place the dresser on a side wall. Do not block windows with a dresser.

Chairs

If possible, try to have at least one comfortable chair in the room. Chairs make the room more inviting and provide a place to sit while reading or removing clothing or shoes. Place the chairs in a corner of the room that is not in the main walkway.

Other Furniture

Other furniture, such as additional tables or desks, will have to go wherever they fit. Desks look good under windows, and they can also make good focal points. Place other tables away from walkways.
