Use a red bed frame to create a romantic atmosphere.
Red is a strong color that can add a sense of power or passion to a bedroom if used right. A red bed frame, whether it's a simple metal frame or an elaborate, upholstered headboard, footboard and frame, can become the focal point of your bedroom. Sprinkle bits of red throughout the room to tie the bed frame into the rest of the room or use one other color in the entire room to make the red stand out more, such as white.
Instructions
1. Paint the walls a neutral color. White, gray, charcoal, beige, cream or even black will provide a background that allows the red to stand out even more. Use a wallpaper design with a pattern that includes hints of the same shade of red if you'd prefer to have a pattern behind the bed, such as a red damask print on a black or white background.
2. Add furniture that complements the bed frame. Solid white or black furniture can blend into the background of the room and be accented with red knobs. Use metal furniture if the bed frame is metal, such as chrome or wrought iron. Light wood pieces will complement the red bed in a modern room, while ornate stained wood will work in a traditional bedroom.
3. Fill the room with textiles that work with the red bed frame. Use plain white, black or charcoal bedding with a red throw over the foot of the bed or a duvet that includes small, red details. Include window coverings and a rug that complement the bedding.
4. Hang black-and-white photographs or artwork that contains red details in the as the bed frame. Alternatively, use red picture frames to display your photographs or artwork.
5. Accessorize the room with detailed items that create the mood and style you want to establish. Intricate wall sconces or bedside lamps in chrome or black can provide balance next to a large red headboard.
