Blue & Chocolate Brown Bedroom Designs

Add chocolate brown to a blue room to anchor it and create a harmonious balance.

Chocolate brown is said to be the "new black" as it goes with nearly any other color, including blue. Use a blue and chocolate color scheme in your bedroom for a trendy or relaxing effect. Mix the colors in a way that creates a bedroom that feels welcoming and comfortable.

Girl Bedroom

Use a light blue, such as robin's egg blue, that has a feminine quality to it. Paint three of the walls blue and one chocolate brown. Add blue polka dots or circles to the brown wall with blue wooden block letters that spell out her name. White or chocolate brown furniture will work in the room. Use a reversible comforter with blue and brown polka dots on one side and stripes or a solid color on the other. Add a blue lampshade with brown trim to a brown lamp. Frame pictures, posters or decorative card stock with chocolate brown or light blue frames.

Boy Bedroom

Use a light shade of blue that appears more masculine than robin's egg blue, such as steel blue or slate blue, which have grayish tones mixed in. Paint the walls steel blue to keep with the color scheme, or a lighter brown, such as tan, for a warmer effect. A metal headboard will complement the steel blue color while a striped comforter featuring various shades of brown from chocolate to tan will warm the space. Use steel blue sheets and pillows in blue and brown. Alternatively, use a plaid pattern on the bed with steel blue and chocolate brown mixed with lighter browns and white. Opt for dark brown furniture in the rest of the room.

Teen Bedroom

Choose a funkier shade of blue for a teen's bedroom, such as pairing trendy aqua with chocolate brown. Paint the walls with solid colors, stripes, polka dots or combine all three. Use beige and white to ground the room, as too much aqua may make it hard to actually rest in the room and too much chocolate brown will make the room feel small and dark. For example, paint three walls beige and white stripes with the fourth wall being chocolate brown with slim beige and white stripes mixed in and topped off with aqua circles. Use white furniture with aqua knobs and hardware, aqua curtains with sheer chocolate brown scarves and a chocolate, beige and aqua rug with a circle pattern. A floral pattern will work just as well if your teen would prefer flowers over circles.

Adult Bedroom

Use a pale shade of blue with chocolate brown to create a luxurious bedroom worthy of any five-star hotel. Paint the walls pale blue for a calming effect with rich chocolate brown furniture. Plain white sheets will work with a satin or high-quality comforter set. Choose a set that complements your style, such as a pale blue comforter with a chocolate brown border or a chocolate brown comforter with pale blue flowers or a damask pattern. Add a large white flower in a pale blue vase to sit on your nightstands or dresser. White candles can sit on chocolate brown holders to add a romantic touch that complements the rest of the room.
