Bedroom Designing On A Cheap Budget

Add embroidery or trim to your pillows to create a pop of color without buying a new bedding set.

When you get ready to redecorate, you don't have to break your budget to do it. Find inexpensive ways to spice up your bedroom decor. From fabric trims to paint, you can purchase just a few items and give your bedroom an entirely new look. Create your own cozy space with chic do-it-yourself style for any budget.

Floor Space

An area rug can take a room in a whole new direction. Even in a small space, you can usually fit a small rug at the foot of your bed. Choose one in a bold color to give your room a bright style. Shop thrift stores and clearance sales to find the rug that best suits the size and style of your space.

Walls

Hang mirrors instead of art on your walls. You can purchase inexpensive mirror shapes at craft stores and then use a thrift-store frame to encase them. Spray paint the frames all one color to match your bedroom decor. The added bonus of this style is that the mirrors will make your bedroom space look larger than it is. They can even help you check your makeup in the morning before work. For other inexpensive art options, take photos of your favorite spots around town or use pictures of your favorite things, such as craft supplies or special books. This can spice up your bedroom decor and give it a personalized look for the cost of printing a photo.

Fabric Accents

If you're handy with a sewing machine or a needle and thread, you can take your bedroom decor up a notch with a budget-friendly makeover. Sew square pocket-style covers for throw pillows to give new life to old bedding. Purchase fabric trim, such as rickrack or ribbon, and sew it to the outer edges of your pillowcases and around the hem of your bedspread. Cut large rectangles of fabric for making your own curtains or even sew yourself a throw blanket to put over the back of an old chair.

Paint It On

A little bit of paint can make a big difference in your bedroom. Buy a worn-down dresser and give it a second life with a bold coat of paint in a bright color. Add knobs from a home improvement store and you'll have a whole new piece of furniture from a yard sale find. Paint a headboard shape behind your bed to save money on buying a wooden headboard, and paint stencils on the front of your chest of drawers to give it vibrant style.
