Get Rid Of Ants In A Bathroom With Boric Acid

Ants have their own habitat and need not invade yours.

Ants are pests that often infest houses in the summer time. Sweets and starch-based foods often attract them so you often find them in kitchens, although sometimes they will gravitate to the humid, moist climates of bathrooms. The best method of dealing with ants is preventing them from entering your home in the first place by cleaning up, not leaving food out and staying tidy. But there is a way to deal with them once they start. You don't need to hire an exterminator to get rid of your ant problem. Instead, you can kill them with boric acid. Humans can only tolerate boric acid in small quantities and to ants it's poison.

Instructions

1. Pour 1/2 cup of table sugar and 1/2 cup of boric acid together in a jar. Add 3/4 cup of water. Replace the lid on the jar and shake it vigorously until the ingredients become well-combined.

2. Open the jar and dip an old paintbrush into the mixture. Paint all the areas of your bathroom where you have seen ants.

3. Coat areas of the bathroom where you haven't seen ants, but which are common places for ants to be in a bathroom, such as along the molding, behind the toilet or in corners near the bathtub.

4. Leave the substance on your bathroom for 24 hours. If possible, try not to use the bathroom at all; just leave the door shut and the lights off. Give the ants time to take the substance back to their nest and share it with the other ants. Thus, killing all the ants in the colony.

5. Mix cold water and bleach in equal parts in a spray bottle. Spray the bathroom down thoroughly, wiping away all traces of the sugary boric acid with paper towels.
