Remove Stains In Bathroom Sinks

Maintain a clean bathroom sink to reduce germs.

The bathroom sink is a common area of the home where germs are often spread from one person to another. By maintaining a clean sink, you can reduce the spread of germs in your household and in turn, help reduce the spread of illnesses. If your sink is stained with soap scum or has hard water stains after an initial cleaning, don't fret. With some natural household products you might not have otherwise considered, you can rid your bathroom sink of its stains and return it back to near its original, clean state.

Instructions

1. Remove stains with a cleaner labeled specifically for the bathroom. Spray it directly on the stains and let the cleaner set on the stain for about 10 minutes. Then, scrub the stains away with a rag, sponge or an old toothbrush. Rinse with clean water.

2. Clean stains with a special eraser-type cleaning pad which is sold in the cleaning isle of a grocery store. Moisten the cleaning pad and rub over the stain. This will clean soap scum, toothpaste stains and other buildup without too much elbow grease. Rinse well.

3. Spray pure white vinegar on the hard water stains and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then, scrub the stain away with a sponge, rag or old toothbrush. You can also mix 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of lemon. Rinse and repeat as necessary. This step will also help remove soap scum. Don't use vinegar or lemon juice on marble sinks because the acidity can etch the surface. Use a cleaner designed to clean hard water minerals from marble surfaces instead.
