Yeehaw, it's a cowgirl party---so get on your giddy-up. Here are some tips for decorating for an old-fashioned Wild West cowgirl hoedown.
Instructions
Party till the cows come home
1. Choose an outdoor space where you can create a farm-like atmosphere. Scatter bales of hay, rocking horses, wooden barrels and pumpkins.
2. Create a playhouse barn out of a large cardboard box (a refrigerator box would work best). Paint the entire surface of the box barn red and cut out a doorway. Set tables with checkered tablecloths and lanterns. Fill a wooden barrel with ice and bottles of root beer for sarsaparilla. Serve old-fashioned barbecue and chili dogs, and roast marshmallows on sticks for an added Old West touch.
3. String lights on the cardboard barn, around the hay bales and anywhere else lights will add a festive touch.
4. Stick horses can be held up in a corral made of a bale of hay surrounded by lengths of picket fence. Wind heavy rope around the fencing, attach the stick horses to the wooden sawhorses and give your guests a chance to rope some broncos.
5. Set up a station for bobbing for apples and an area for square dancing. Younger cowgirls will likely want to step to the Hoedown Throwdown or other current country music. Make a playlist of appropriate music for some boot-stompin' fun.
Tips Warnings
Be conscious of carefully placing and hiding wires and plugs for the lights so guests do not trip.
